Bananaquin is the unusual name given to the product of a union between an elite clone of the high CBD strain Harlequin and orgnkid's Banana Kush F9 male plant. It is a medicinal marijuana strain par excellence that produces a range of pheno-types for a many different applications.
Bananaquin is an indica/sativa hybrid cannabis strain; Harlequin is 75% sativa and Banana Kush is indica-dominant. Bananaquin can be grown in all environments with indoor flowering taking 8 - 9 weeks to complete while outdoor-grown crops will be ready for the chop either in late September or in early October at the very latest in northern latitudes. The levels of both THC and CBD vary with the wide range of pheno-types produced but the ones with a higher proportion of CBD are more vigorous, faster growers with an unusual smell to the stems when rubbed, the best way to spot them.
The aroma and taste of banana peel is quite pronounced with this plant but there is also a strong licorice accent along with that of new cassette-tape(!). The range of THC produced is 7% - 26% with CBD of 6% - 26%. The effects will clearly differ according to the exact ratios of cannabinoids but generally speaking it is a very cerebral strain with a marked calming effect and an underlying indica kick.
Therapeutically Bananaquin is recommended for treating the symptoms of seizures, pain (especially arthritis), post traumatic stress disorder, nausea, vomiting, stress and for cancer patients when processed into Rick Simpson Oil. Cancer patients are advised by Dankonomics genetics to utilise the higher THC plants while the low THC/high CBD plants are best for children and canine treatments due to the reduced potency of the THC.
