Over the past 15 years, Spanish-based seed bank ACE Seeds has built a formidable reputation for supplying rare, exotic and hard-to-find cannabis landrace genetics. On this occasion, their team of breeders offer you something truly out of the ordinary: Japanese Hemp from the island of Hokkaido.
Hokkaido Japan Hemp produces very fast flowering hemp plants, offering very low levels of cannabinoids. With a THC level ranging from 0.6 to 1%, the consumption of this plant does not provide any psychoactive effect.
Hokkaido Japan Hemp, Indica structure with Sativa flowers
This Japanese Hemp variety grows with a strong structure, giving it a very Indica appearance. The secondary branches are long and strong while the development of the plant is vigorous, which gives it a sturdy structure. It displays very good resistance in difficult growing conditions and to Botrytis in particular.
The internode spacing can be quite large, which allows even better light penetration to the plant, for a heavier yield. The light is captured by the large, lush leaves with intense dark green colours and a production of slender flowers with a Sativa appearance.
Flowering indoors is extremely fast, as this variety possesses some semi-autoflowering characteristics, and outdoors it will begin to bloom just after the summer solstice, with the trichomes being mature in late August, early September. Whatever the growing system chosen, Hokkaido Japan Hemp doesn't need large inputs of cannabis nutrients to grow properly.
Hokkaido Japan Hemp, spicy geranium aromas and a mild effect
With these very low cannabinoid levels, less than 1% THC and an average of 0.5% CBD, the consumption of this plant does not cause any psychoactive effect, although it can still bring on mild relaxation and some giggles.
The Hokkaido variety of hemp gives off raw odours, reminiscent of spicy geraniums. It does not offer a large amount of terpenes, so do not expect a flavour experience that's similar to a conventional cannabis plant. It produces only alpha pinene with some other major terpenes.
This variety could be of interest to breeders for hybridising with CBD rich strains or more conventional varieties.
